What a wonderful day we had exploring Tynemouth Priory and Castle. So much history on our doostep!
Tynemouth Priory and Castle is particularly impressive and we learnt so much. There are three main areas to explore:
- The gatehouse (castle) which was founded in the thirteenth century
- The priory which dates back to Anglo-Saxon times around the eighth century
- The gun battery which was used during both World Wars
We had an amazing day and learnt so much about the history of our local area.
